HISTORY OF EDL HAUS

A Rich History of Edl Haus

The Palace of the Hungarian Discount Bank is one of the most beautiful civic buildings in our capital. The project to transform the unremarkable house of the Auer family into an Art Nouveau palace was commissioned by the owner of the financial institution and royal advisor Theodor Edl, although he did not live to see its completion. After his sudden death, the Hungarian Discount Bank decided to carry out this bold plan. As a result, the Main Square gained its second landmark and its present appearance.
